Rushton Community Group
Hello and welcome to our group.
We are a group of local people with a common aim:
Our goal is to ensure that the legacy of the village spirit, built up by generations before us, continues to thrive for all our residents. We hope to bring the community together with the focus on inclusivity, enabling us all to support and learn from each other. Events and gatherings will provide opportunities to meet old and new friends for all who call Rushton and the surrounding areas, home. We hope fundraising at these get-togethers will allow us to use the monies raised to benefit our community at large.
We held a successful ‘Meet The Neighbours’ social event last November, an evening where not only old friends met up, but newcomers had an opportunity to make new friends too. A night of fun, chatter and laughter was had by all.
As part of our fundraising efforts, the creation of “The Rushton Lottery” is aiming to have 50 members initially. The lottery will be run just as a 50 club with half the fund collected from membership being paid out as cash prizes and the remaining half to be used to benefit the community. Members pay a set fee of £24.00 for a year and in return will have the chance to win a cash prize:
3 prize winners, 4 times a year, 12 chances to win
1st prize £75, 2nd prize £50 or 3rd prize £25
Please contact debbiehobbs@wallhillengineering.com or 07905 741430 to join and be in with a chance to win. Must be over 18 years of age.
We are currently in the throes of organising a community celebration of the 80th anniversary of our Victory in Europe. The event will be held at The Heaton & Swythamley Centre on 10th May 2025 from 12 noon until 5pm.
There will be live music, hot food, full bar, games, Blaze farm ice cream and so much more. You are of course welcome to bring a picnic. In addition, we are asking for donations of cakes for everyone to enjoy.
Tickets for hot food available shortly….Watch this space!
Next meeting – The Royal Oak – Monday 22/09/2025 @ 8pm
Please do come long and join us discussing our plans for what we hope will be a fitting event to mark the occasion. All ideas and thoughts will be truly welcome.
